Prof. Edwin Sanchez, M.S.C

Space Policy Advisor

Edwin Sánchez-Camilo is a private pilot, with mayor experience in Cessna aircraft. He has flown also as an auxiliary pilot for the Dominican Navy on search and rescue missions. He is part of the first group of student pilots to fly with renewable fuels (ethanol) in the Dominican Republic.

Edwin is an astronautics and space engineer, lecturer, and aerospace researcher at the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC). Additionally, he coordinates the Aerospace Science Research Group at the university and a PhD student in Environmental Sciences.

Within the research field, Edwin is focused on implementing aerospace technologies to the benefit of society and human space exploration. Currently, he is the director for the Project QuisqueyaSat-1, first Dominican made satellite to aid in the detection of the sargassum alge.

He is also the project director for restoring the blueprints and mockup assembly of the first Dominican design airplane “El Poliplano” (1911). Edwin is president of the Asosiación Aeroespacial Dominicana and Point of Contact – National Director for Dominican Republic of the Latinamerican and Caribbean Space Network (ReLaCa), Member of the AIAA, Royal Aeronautical Society and IEEE.
