Airline Safety Advisor
Joshua Arnold has been working in Part 121 airline operations since 2010. Joshua worked for a global air-freight and passenger charter Part 121 airline. During Joshua’s career, he has held various roles of increasing responsibility.
Working in Flight Operations, Joshua oversaw Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) analysis, technical publication content and editing, special projects such as Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) administration, and accident and incident investigations. Joshua was also a member of the Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) Event Review Committee (ERC).
Joshua also has a background in public safety, where he was an Emergency Medicare Technician (EMT) and firefighter for five years. This experience made it a natural transition for Joshua to move from Flight Operations to aviation safety, becoming the Part 119 Director of Safety (DoS).
During Joshua’s tenure as the DoS, he was responsible for a team of safety professionals, served as the Vice-Chairman and Chairman of the Airlines for America (A4A) Flight Safety Committee, and maintained safety programs such as ASAP, FRMP, FDM/FOQA, and was the Company’s liaison with government agencies both nationally and internationally.
Joshua now works as the Safety Programs Manager for a major US Part 121 passenger airline. Joshua and his team track, trend, and analyze Company safety data. Joshua is responsible for all voluntary and compulsory reporting. Joshua also serves as the Primary Company representative for the Pilot ASAP and an alternate for the Dispatch and Technical Operations ASAPs.
Joshua is a graduate of Minnesota State University with a Bachelor’s in Political Science, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE) and a Master’s in Aviation Safety and Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Joshua also holds professional certifications such as an ATP with a 747-400 Type Rating, certificated Dispatcher, and Associate Risk Management-Enterprise (ARM-E). Joshua is also an avid general aviation pilot who enjoys flying throughout the US in small aircraft.
