Juan José Rivera is a highly experienced pilot captain with an extensive background in flight instruction and check airman duties. With a career spanning over two decades, he has accumulated over 19,433 flight hours, including significant experience with wide-body international operations.
Capt. Rivera has held leadership positions with multiple prestigious airlines, demonstrating his expertise in pilot training, supervision, and aircraft operations. He is currently a B747-400 Captain at National Airlines, a position he has held since April 2023. Prior to this, he served as a B767 & B757 Supervisor Training Pilot, Captain, and Check Airman at Amerijet International from August 2022 to April 2023.
Between July 2020 and June 2022, he worked at Eastern Airlines, LLC as a B777 Instructor Captain, Program Pilot, Initial Cadre, and Check Airman. Before that, he spent over a decade at Air Japan (ANA Group) as a B767 Captain and Instructor from March 2007 to June 2020. His earlier experience includes serving as a Captain and Check Airman for Pinnacle Airlines from March 2001 to March 2007 and as a B1900 Captain and Instructor at Servicios Aéreos Profesionales from November 1996 to March 2001.
Throughout his career, he has accumulated a total of 19,433 flight hours, with 15,273 as Pilot in Command. His experience includes 7,702 hours on the Boeing 767, of which 6,004 were as PIC, and 994 hours on the Boeing 747. He completed his education at Aeroclub del Aeropuerto de Herrera in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and attended Colegio Evangélico Central in the same city.
Capt. Rivera possesses extensive experience as a flight instructor and check airman, along with expertise in wide-body international flying. In addition to his work as a pilot, he has been actively involved in advocacy efforts to improve Dominican civil aviation, working to enhance industry standards, pilot training, and regulatory improvements within the country.
